The Miracle Quake
Two days in and life is, surreally, starting to get back to normal, at least in my part of the city. How much damage have we really sustained? It's still hard to tell, but it all seems to be mostly building and infrastructure, not life. Which is awesome. We have a curfew on the central business district, but elsewhere it's mostly normal. Still a few thousand houses without power though.
I turn on the radio tonight to hear the word "miracle" being discussed in terms of what the quake didn't do. That's not something you hear every day. Or live through, I guess.
My house seems perfectly fine so far. Hopefully the next thing will just be cleanup at work. And sleep.
Earthquake!
At 4:35 am today, Christchurch was hit by a 7.1 Richter earthquake which has locked down our central business district and caused flooding and evacuations in the eastern suburbs, but miraculously it seems our death toll is minimal, if any. All my friends are ok. Addington seems to have plenty of power and water right now.
Updated Addington Space with quake news and forum.
Peace to everyone tonight.
